Passports
Passport renewals are not processed by the county clerk.
Passport acceptance hours:
9 am to 12 pm
1 pm to 3:30 pm
You must bring copies of your driver's license and photocopies of citizenship evidence
All persons traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean region are required to present a passport or other valid travel document to enter or re-enter the united states. For more information, including requirements for land and sea travel, visit the U.S. Department of State website.
All Passport Applicants must appear in person, including minors under age 14.
The Passport Card
Customers will now have the option to apply for a Passport Card which may only be used for land and sea travel between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean.

Applications for passports may be obtained at the Franklin County Clerk's Office or you may download them from the U.S. Department of State website.
Obtaining a Passport
To obtain a passport you must have the following items:
- Proof of Citizenship
- Certified copy of Birth Certificate, with a photocopy
- Previous passport
- Certificate of Naturalization, with a photocopy
- One official passport photo, 2 by 2 inches
- Valid photo identification, with photocopy front and back
- Applicant's social security number
Special Requirements for Children Under Age 16
Both parents or the Child's legal guardian must:
- Present evidence of the child's U.S. citizenship and Present evidence that they are the parents or guardians.
- Show valid personal identification and Sign and take oath before an authorized passport acceptance agent If either parent is unable to appear, the absent parent must provide a notarized statement of consent, which includes the child's name and date of birth, authorizing passport issuance.

Passports for age 16 and over are valid for 10 years; for those under age 16, they are valid for 5 years.

Passport Fees to be paid by check or money order, no cash, payable to "U.S. DEPT. OF STATE"
Processing Fees are to be paid by cash or credit card, fee applies for card usage.
Expedited Passport
In order to expedite service for your passport, you must pay an additional $60.00 fee per application.
Passport renewals are not processed by the County Clerk.
